With a background in language teaching to adults, I have long been interested in helping people to overcome the obstacles that hold them back from fulfilment and joy. My training in the helping professions started with Introduction to Counselling and continued with a Diploma in Transformational Coaching. My interests have always focused on novel and practical ways to help people, which led me to study a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypno-psycotherapy. I have also been training to qualify for a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and I am currently working as a counsellor trainee for the NHS. Such an eclectic training has provided me with a wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge, covering the major approaches of different schools of psychotherapy: cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic, psycho-analylitical and person-centred. I personally appreciate the power of Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and Brief Solution Focused therapy. However, I also work with in-depth hypno-analytical techniques, if the client is ready for that kind of work. As an Integrative Practitioner, I believe it is important to meet my clients where they are at, instead of trying to make clients fit my approach. I also have a deep understanding of spiritual issues and struggle and can provide clients with a holistic view of their problems.
Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of experiences of bullying, abuse in personal relationships, lack of self-esteem and issues with body image. My experiences of living and working in different countries, has helped me understand issues around loneliness, isolation and cultural diversity. I am able to work in a holistic way, looking at the different areas of my clients' lives so that I can find a way to assist them that truly works for them.
