I am a down-to-earth hypnotherapist, counsellor and psychotherapist. You will be warmly welcomed and sincerely heard. Finding the right therapist can help you activate the changes you want to make in your life and the therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor is an essential part of this process. Hypnotherapy can help empower you between sessions and beyond our last session – into your new life.
Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy which works with the subconscious mind by inducing a natural state of deep relaxation. Once you are in this tranquil phase, I will use suggestions to help you overcome your issue. Hypnotherapy can work well with fears, phobias, anxiety, exams, stress management, improving self esteem, smoking cessation and weight loss amongst others. It can also be helpful where there are emotional ‘blockages’ relating to upsetting events in our past. I will write individualised hypnotic suggestions containing key words, phrases, metaphors and guided imagery to suit you and your needs. These powerful hypnotic suggestions can support you in developing a more helpful set of beliefs about yourself. Once you are gradually brought back to full wakefulness, many clients feel revitalised.
Hypnotherapy should not be confused with stage hypnosis acts you may have seen on television for example. In hypnotherapy, although you will be very relaxed you will always be able to talk and will not lose control. Hypnotherapy cannot force you to do something you do not want to do. You will remain in control. That is why hypnotherapy will only actually work if you want it to. It is important to know that it is not a ‘cure all’ for every client.
The number of sessions required varies with each client, depending on the issue and their level of responsiveness to hypnotherapy. This will be discussed at the initial taster session. Your therapy will remain in your control and within your budget. I will provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your needs and goals and we can work out if hypnotherapy is for you.
Using hypnotherapy alone can work effectively for single issues such as a specific phobia of dogs for example or a fear of giving a best man’s speech at an impending wedding. However, it can also be very helpful when integrated into longer term treatment plans which combine counselling and psychotherapy to address more complex client issues, which might have originated in their past. As an integrative psychotherapist, I can develop a treatment plan which addresses your specific needs and goals.
