Hello, my name is Wendy Paterson. Welcome to my profile. I own and run Achelois Clinical Therapy.
I am a qualified, registered and accredited, and fully insured, Professional Clinical Hypnotherapist and EMDR Practitioner, based just outside Market Bosworth in Leicestershire. I provide confidential therapy either online or in person. I practice with a special interest in mental health support; particularly as a specialist in teen mental health and wellbeing.
I have had my own practice for several years, helping children (5yrs+), young people, and adults manage a wide range of problems or issues that are of concern to them. Sessions can be face-to-face or via Zoom, (which despite my initial reservations have proven themselves to be equally useful and popular with many of my patients). I see both individuals and groups. Great examples of my group work include sessions for school students; regarding exam stress management and focused attention, and stress relief sessions for teachers.
Why choose me? What do I offer you?
The simplest answer is that along with my hypnotherapy knowledge and experience, I also have a background in both health and therapy settings Prior to becoming a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I worked as a Nurse, (20+ years), in the NHS. My varied career includes working as a Sister in Intensive Care and as a Specialist in Public Health. I have also trained as a Psychodynamic Therapist, working in a bust therapy centre for four years, A Solihull Approach practitioner, and a Protective Behaviours practitioner and worked alongside CAMHS in providing first-line support for school-aged children. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate as all this means I can offer my patients/clients a wealth of knowledge and experience; an integrated therapeutic approach to creating the changes that you are searching for. I have spent my professional life working with others to address their different individual needs and had the absolute pleasure of seeing them blossom. No two people are the same; neither should their therapy be.
What all this means is that you, the client/patient will be treated with respect, dignity, and with your best interests at the forefront of the therapy I provide. All the training in the world doesn't always make you a great therapist, developing relationships based on empathy, understanding and a little challenge are the things that help to create that. People respond to people, I have been fortunate enough to have learned this through years working in the health service and as a therapist.
Much of my practice focuses on mental health support. For instance; individuals experiencing anxiety-based issues: overthinking, general anxiety, phobias, school avoidance, and compulsive and/or obsessive behaviours, as well as issues such as low mood/depression, stress, relationship worries, migraine, enuresis in children, chronic pain, IBS, and other long-term conditions. Additionally, I offer support for Stopping Smoking, weight management, and public speaking Given my years of ITU nursing, I also have an interest in working with individuals who have previously been patients in ITU, to help them deal with the lasting reminders of their experience. Enabling them to come to terms with events that were necessary to keep them alive but have remained with them and continue to interrupt their days and nights. I also offer EMDR- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, a recognised technique for dealing with trauma. The therapy you will receive will be based on up-to-date research and neuroscientific evidence.
